How to Fix Your Windows XP SP2 Registry So You Can View EXE Ebooks

1) Make a restore point for your Windows XP operating system.
1a) Click on START then choose RUN from the start menu
1b) Type RESTORE in the Run dialogue box as shown below, then click on the OK button.

1c) The "Restore" folder will open. Now, DOUBLE-CLICK on the application file named RSTRUI or RSTRUI.EXE (see picture below). Doing so will run the Windows System Restore application.

1d) Within the "System Restore" window, select the CREATE A RESTORE POINT option.
1e) Name your restore point XPEXEFIX or anything else you can remember
1f) Click CLOSE after the restore point has been created
1g) Click CLOSE again.
Should you encounter any problems with the following steps, this will allow you to restore your computer to the same state it was in before you made the following changes you are about to make below. You should not have any problems at all if you follow the steps below, but we created this restore point just in case. It is always good practice to create a restore point before you make a Windows registry edit as we are about to do below.
We will now create a registry key so that you can view and use your EXE ebooks on your hard drive.
2) Click on START then choose RUN from the start menu
A small window will appear that should look similar the on below. Type in "regedit" in the field just like below and then Click the OK button.

3a) A new window will appear which is titled "Registry Editor".

3b) Now, click on the folder that says HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
